After months of planning and hard work, we are so proud to say that we are now starting to make Peepul using our own bespoke peg doll shapes. The beautifully chunky and tactile new Peepul are made using sustainably sourced sycamore which is grown, cut and turned in Britain. The timber yard where we source the wood and the turner who produces the shapes are both within an hour of Peepul HQ in Wiltshire and Oxfordshire.
We're so delighted to be reducing our carbon footprint significantly and using such high quality figures, which are unique to Peepul - you won't see these anywhere else.
These beautiful new peg dolls have been rigorously tested by an independent lab to ensure they meet European safety requirements (EN71) and passed with flying colours. They proudly bear the CE mark to show they are safe for children. We recommend that they are suitable from the age of 12 months - not for safety reasons but because lots of teething and mouthing by young babies could ruin the paintwork.
The change will mean very small price increases to most products - but we have minimised these as much as possible simply to cover the additional cost of producing the new peg dolls. When you see them, we hope you agree that this small price change is well worth it.
We are phasing the new Peepul in gradually in order to manage the transition in our stock and supply chain, and today we switched our Astronaut, Farmer, Mermaid and Pirate Peepul over to the new shapes - they are available to order in the shop now!
Introducing two new individual Peepul added to the shop today - Mountaineer Peepul and Polar Explorer Peepul! These were designed especially to go with the beautiful Black's Toys play scenes and Eric and Albert's Crafts animals you see in these pictures.
Each one is hand painted on FSC certified beech wood with beautifully tactile clay-based paints and a sealer containing a mix of plant oils and waxes for a robust yet natural finish.
Where will your play take you today?
